Training Back Ground
Began Taekwondo training in 1963 aged 15 when I joined the Taekwondo dojang under Grand Master Kim Soon Bae 9th Dan Chang Moo Kwan, Dong-Ah Gym Chung Yang, Seoul, Korea
1965 - Pass 1st Dan Black Belt KTA Seoul, Korea. 1965-1967 - Involved more kyorugi training for championships in Korea.
Changmoo Kwan Team Member.
1968-1971 - Served Royal Airforce Korea/Training & Teach Tkd in service.
1975 - Re-started Taekwondo training and started to teaching Taekwondo
in, Putney, London, UK
1975 - Met GM Ki Ha Rhee in London and involved with UKTA
1978 - Moved to Manchester and opened Taekwondo clubs and promoted Ardwick,
Salford, Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Bury, Stretford, Warrington and
Liverpool.
1984 - 2000 - Organized an annual “ Shin’s Academy open Tkd Championships”
Castle Leisure Centre, Bury, Gt. Manchester
1983/95/99 - Invited three times Grand Master Kim Soon Bae which organized Tkd
Seminar.
1983 - Qualified an International Instructor from Kukkiwon, Seoul, Korea
1983 - Qualified 3rd Class (WTF) International Referee in the 6th World Tkd
Championships Denmark.
1984 - Hosted Tkd Demo the first Korean National Demo Team in Manchester.
1985 - Formed the United Taekwondo Association(UTA)
1986 - Organized a goodwill Championships Gt. Britain v Korean National Team
in Bury, Manchester.
1988 - Organized a goodwill championships UTA team v Kyunghee University Tkd
team in Stretford, Manchester.
1989 - Appointed Vice Chairman of British Taekwondo Council (BTC)
BTC recognised by Sports Council & Governing body of TaeKwondo UK
1995 - Promoted 2nd Class (WTF) kyorugi International Referee.
2005 - Qualified 1st Class Poomsae International Referee.
2005 - Promoted 1st Class (WTF) kyorugi International Referee.
2005 - Registered as a BTCB/BTC approved instructor.
2006 - Voted 2nd Best Poomsae Referee - WTF 1st World Poomsae
Championships, Seoul, Korea
2007/8 BTCB National Poomsae Champion 2nd Master Division
2007 - 2nd World Poomsae Championships Incheon, Korea 8th Place.
2007 - European Poomsae Championships in Turkey Bronze medallist.
2008 - Belgium Open International Poomsae Championships 2nd Master Male

2008 - 3rd World Poomsae Championships 2nd Master Male
5th Place Ankara, Turkey 16th - 18th Dec, 09
Currently 8th Dan Taekwondo and over forty years of experience training and
teaching in both Korea and the UK.
