On 11/10/08 a small team from the UTA competed at this prestigious ETU ‘A’ class event. The Manchester team consisted of Master Shin, Angela Broadbent, Alex Tse and Tom Barwick. Master Peter Johnson came from Stoke on Trent, Chan Sau from Halton Taekwondo, and finally Constantino Cesar and Alison Ellerton from Milton Keynes.
The event was well run, if a little lengthy, and attracted many National Teams preparing for the 2008 World Championships coming up in December.
Competition was very tough, therefore, even for the experienced players. The pressure was on for all of us, particularly for Alex as a newcomer to the poomsae circuit, who nevertheless performed very creditably for a first attempt.
It was a long and tiring day for everyone, especially Master Shin and Master Peter, who competed early in the morning then did a quick change and went to join the team of national and international referees who all worked so hard to make the day a success.
As usual, the UTA managed to bring back some trophies: Master Shin took bronze in the Second Masters Male, Angela silver in Second Masters Ladies, and Tom bronze in kup grades boys 11-14 years. It was a very enjoyable weekend for all of us.
